What are Digital Portfolios?

A digital portfolio is a collection of items stored in a digital format including spreadsheet and word processed document files, drawings, photographs, digital video and music.

Try the Digital Portfolios tool - Login: netrideguest Password: netrideguest

Items are created by students in their time at school and stored in a portfolio folder which can then be copied onto an external form of media eg burnt to a CD or copied to a USB stick. The portfolio of digital items can be accessed by teachers, parents and students for reference and stored for posterity.

Who is The NetRide?

My name is David Potter and The NetRide is my business.

I am an educator and have worked at all levels in the education system and in many capacities. At the end of 1996, I asked my self the question - "Why can't an educator run a practice like a doctor or lawyer and provide services to a variety of schools, educational institutions and education projects?". I couldn't find any reasons at all!!

I have been running all manner of workshops and building database-driven web sites since January 1 1997.

How can I play with this site?
Yes you can. Choose the Guest Community from the front page.  This community is set up for you to use as a sandpit. Play around with the options that are available.  Some options are not available to you eg. Passport Management. A username and password has been set up so that you can access the Site Control area as a community manager. You will also be able to access the Members Area.

Where do you get the menus?

The menu system is a Dynamic HTML system put together by Andy Woolley at Milonic Menus.

The web address is: http://www.milonic.com

Make sure you read the condiditons on the site for the right to use the menu system.

For this site, I have developed some VBScript on an ASP page that builds the text file containing the item arrays used by the menu system. When someone with Site Control access adds/edits or delete a site section or web page, the text file is created and the menu visible to the user is altered.
